The Republican-led Alaska Senate majority has hired a new press secretary.
The caucus picked Michaela Goertzen, a speechwriter for former Lt. Gov. Mead Treadwell and a former marketing manager at Alaska Dispatch News.
Goertzen will earn $88,000 annually. She replaces Carolyn Kuckertz, who earned $94,000 annually, and whose contract was terminated after she was charged with three felonies and a misdemeanor of driving under the influence after police said she struck two women on her way out of a legislative parking lot earlier this year.
Kuckertz ultimately pled guilty to a single felony and misdemeanor charge.
