Anchorage woman caught trying to smuggle alcohol into dry village

A 22-year-old woman was caught Sunday trying to smuggle 35 bottles of liquor into the dry village of Pilot Station, according to Alaska State Troopers.

Anchorage resident Nicole Parduhn was stopped at a local air carrier facility in Bethel by the Western Alaska Alcohol and Narcotics Team, which had received a report that Parduhn was smuggling alcohol into the village of around 568 residents in Western Alaska, troopers wrote in a Monday dispatch.

Inside Parduhn's luggage, investigators found 35 750-milliliter bottles of distilled spirits, troopers wrote.

Parduhn was taken to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center in Bethel pending her arraignment, charged with two class C felonies for alcohol importation and possession or sale of alcohol without a license.

Her arraignment was scheduled for Monday morning, online court records show.
