An inmate at the Wildwood Pretrial Facility in Kenai was found dead in his cell over the weekend, Alaska State Troopers reported.
In an online dispatch, troopers said the agency responded Sunday afternoon to reports that 45-year-old Paul Heppner was unconscious. Prison staff and emergency responders from Nikiski tried to resuscitate him, but were unsuccessful.
Heppner was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers said foul play isn't suspected, but the investigation is ongoing.
