Holy Rosary rolls into coed soccer semifinals

After playing a scoreless first half that featured big saves from Holy Rosary's Eric Bjelland and Lumen Christi's Jordan Brown, sophomore Atlin Bell scored the first of his two goals to give Holy Rosary the advantage.

Sang Nguyen made it 2-0 on a corner kick by Jake Siebs and then Bell dribbled through the Archangels defense for the final goal.

The loss sends Lumen Christi into a Friday game against Su-Valley, with the winner advancing to a match against Holy Rosary later in the day.

Bjelland, a junior, was in goal for both of Holy Rosary's shutouts.

In its win over Nenana, Holy Rosary got three goals from Bell, two apiece from Siebs and Patrick Droege and one from Andrew Cookson. Siebs assisted on three goals.

Lumen Christi beat Nenana with goals from Joey Novcaski and Luc Merrell, who came off the bench to beat the goalie for an empty-netter.
