Mustangs run wild in Eagle River
The Chugiak Mustangs won everything Saturday in a four-team cross-country meet in Eagle River.
Ty Jordan and Emma Nelson ran to individual victories for Chugiak, helping the Mustangs sweep the team titles.
Jordan's 5-kilometer win came in 16 minutes, 6 seconds, giving him a 20-second cushion over runner-up Jacob Walsh, a freshman from Eagle River. Walsh nipped Chugiak's Roan Hall by four-tenths of a second in the race for second place.
The team competition among the Chugiak and Eagle River boys was close, with Chugiak winning 36-42.
The Chugiak girls scored 23 points, with Eagle River second with 39.
Nelson took the 5-K win in 19:37, beating teammate and runner-up Emma Sees by 23 seconds..

Lash, Schumacher fastest at Kincaid
South's Morgan Lash breezed past the competition to win the girls race at a four-team cross country race Saturday at Kincaid Park.
Lash won the 5-kilometer race by more than a minute. She finished in 19 minutes, 30 seconds, with West's Lauren Corkran finishing a distant second in 20:32.
Gus Schumacher of Service set the pace among boys with a winning time of 16:06. West's Finn Walker (16:16) held off South's Derek Steele (16:17) for second place.
West swept the team titles. The girls landed four runners in the top 10 and the boys placed five in the top 10.
