The planned sale of Icicle Seafoods has fallen through and the company will go back on the block after the close of the salmon season in 2015.
A press release from the office of Paine & Partners, a global private equity investment firm that acquired Icicle in 2007 was sent last week announcing the decision. The firm declined to release any reasons for the deal's termination.
The agreement to sell Icicle to Indonesian firms Convergence Holdings and Dominion Catchers had been scheduled to be finalized in August. Convergence would have acquired Icicle's land-based wild seafood processing and farmed salmon activities and Dominion would have acquired the company's harvesting and processing vessels as well as the associated fishing rights.
The company deals in a wide variety of seafood, including wild salmon from Alaska and farmed salmon from the Atlantic. In a statement, Seattle-based Icicle said it "continues to be well-positioned as a leader in the North American seafood sector."
