Former Eielson High long jumper Janay DeLoach, an Olympic bronze medalist, finished sixth in a field of nine Thursday at a Diamond League track and field meet in Zurich, Switzerland.
Coming off an eighth-place finish at the world championships recently, DeLoach went 21 feet even on her sixth and final jump Thursday. That topped her first-round jump of 20-8.
DeLoach, 29, won bronze at the 2012 Olympics in London.
Serbia's Ivana Spanovic won Thursday's competition, soaring 23-0.50 on her final jump to surpass recently crowned world champion American Tianna Bartoletta (22-10.50). Spanovic finished third at the world championships.
DeLoach, who lives in Colorado, was one of two Alaska-connected athletes who competed at the world championships. The other was former Bartlett High shot putter Jordan Clarke, who just missed making the finals in Beijing, China.
