Alaska authorities are investigating the death of Gilbert N. Joseph, 57, at a Fairbanks jail.
Few details have been released, including how Joseph died.
The state Department of Corrections said Joseph was in the jail on a "non-criminal hold" and had been there since Wednesday.
Joseph's death occurred around 3:40 a.m. Thursday at the Fairbanks Correctional Center, and Alaska State Troopers and the medical examiner's office were investigating, according to DOC.
Troopers responded to the jail around 4:13 a.m. after getting a report that Joseph was found unresponsive, according to an online dispatch.
Medics took Joseph to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital and unsuccessfully attempted to resuscitate him, troopers said.
No foul play is suspected in the death, troopers said.
