Magnitude 3.7 quake shakes Southcentral Alaska in early morning

A magnitude 3.7 quake shook Southcentral Alaska in the early morning hours Friday.

The temblor, which struck at 3:18 a.m, had an epicenter about 10 miles west of Wasilla, according to the Alaska Earthquake Center.

There were no immediate reports of damage, but the quake was felt in much of Anchorage, Eagle River and Chugiak as well as in Wasilla, according to reports from the U.S. Geological Survey.

Separately, a magnitude 3.8 quake hours earlier in Cook Inlet, about 25 miles west of Anchor Point, was not widely felt but prompted the National Tsunami Warning Center in Palmer to issue a statement that there was no danger of a tsunami.
