Wasilla driver in fatal Glenn Highway crash indicted for manslaughter

A Palmer grand jury has indicted a 22-year-old Wasilla man on charges of manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide for his role in a March 12 crash on the Glenn Highway that killed a French woman and injured four people.

Trenton L. Shepersky was also charged with third-degree assault, according to the indictment, which was handed up Friday. A $50,000 warrant for his arrest was issued that same day.

Alaska State Troopers investigators suspect that drugs were a factor in the accident, spokeswoman Megan Peters said in an email.

His Wasilla-based attorney, Greg Parvin, said Shepersky is scheduled for his first court appearance Thursday and is cooperating with authorities.

"He wants to get to court. He wants to get the process moving," Parvin said Tuesday.

Shepersky was driving south near the Knik River bridge when his pickup truck crossed the median into northbound traffic and crashed head-on into an RV before hitting a Chevrolet van, Alaska State Troopers said at the time. A woman in the RV, Camille Plancher, was declared dead at the scene. The French driver of the RV and two other passengers from British Columbia and Japan were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The Palmer man driving the van was treated for minor injuries.

Shepersky sustained serious injuries and was flown to Providence Alaska Medical Center. He's still receiving medical care, Parvin said.
