Two more Alaskans cashed in recently at the 46th annual World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, bringing to 24 the number of Alaskans who have won money this year in the game's most prestigious and lucrative tournament.
Andrew Hansen of Anchorage won $2,049 for his 400th-place finish in No-Limit Hold 'em event that drew 4,555 players and required a $1,111 buy-in, or entry fee.
Also, Jae Bahn of Anchorage won $2,012 in Lucky Sevens No-Limit Hold 'em event that attracted 4,422 entries and required a $777 buy-in. Bahn placed 244th.
The biggest winner among Alaskans so far this year is Young Ji of Anchorage, who won a Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better event that earned him $231,102 and the coveted gold bracelet that goes to each event winner.
The annual tournament at The Rio features 68 different events, culminating The Main Event, the biggest, most lucrative tournament in the game and one that requires a $10,000 buy-in. The Main Event began Sunday, attracted 6,420 players and will pay the winner $7.68 million.
