Shawn McTaggert of Palmer over the weekend won the women's title at the Hatcher Pass Marathon for the third time in the five-year history of a 26.2-miler that climbs nearly 4,000 feet in elevation.
McTaggert's time of 3 hours, 54 minutes, 1 second, on Saturday marked her best time in the race and the second-fastest women's time in race history. It was also the second-fastest time Saturday. McTaggert also won the race in 2014 and 2012.
Laron Thomas of Anchorage won the overall title in 3:28:35, the sixth-fastest time in race history.
Martin Schuster of Homer finished second overall in 3:56:02 and Egan Cornachion of Georgetown, Texas, finished third among men in 4:03:56.
Teri Buck of Anchorage captured second among women in 4:04:40 and Britta Brecheen of Anchorage took third in 4:17:45.
The team called Live Life to the Fullest – Andrew Dennis, Kailyn McGrath and Kelsey Peterson – won the relay division in 3:57:17.
