The public now has a chance to see three orphaned brown bear cubs, rescued earlier this month from Kodiak, in person at the Alaska Zoo.
From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. the cubs are available for public viewing, zoo officials said -- though they warned that it's up to the cubs how much time with the public they'll have, as they'll also have access to their indoor den.
The cubs were captured by a hunting guide on Kodiak in early May, after their mother was shot by another hunter. After they spent a night in the guide's cabin, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game was able to collect them and transport them to the zoo in Anchorage, where they'll stay before being placed in the Lower 48.
The Alaska Zoo is open seven days a week, including Memorial Day.
