Troopers: Man charged with DUI in KGB Road crash that seriously injured teen

A teen is suffering from injuries Alaska State Troopers described as "serious," and a man is facing numerous charges, including driving under the influence, after a Tuesday evening car collision outside Wasilla.

According to troopers, 55-year-old Simon Reutov was intoxicated when his 2004 Chevy sedan crossed into the opposite lane and stuck a 1991 Toyota truck driven by a 17-year-old Wasilla resident on Knik Goose Bay Road, near its intersection with Carmel Drive.

The driver of the 1991 Toyota was taken to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center to be treated for his injuries, troopers said. Troopers said that they expect the injured teen to survive.

Reutov refused on-scene emergency treatment, and later, at the Wasilla Police Department refused to submit a chemical test, troopers reported.

Along with the DUI, Reutov is being charged with third-degree assault, refusal to submit a chemical test and reckless driving.

He was taken to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility.
