Not a surprise, but still a big-time honor -- Penn State junior winger Casey Bailey of Anchorage today was named All-Big Ten.
The 6-foot-3, 195-pounder with a wicked shot has racked 22-18--40 totals and a +13 rating in 36 games. He's a free agent and expected to have his choice of NHL teams at season's end.
Bailey's average of .61 goals per game is tied for seventh in the nation, and he leads the nation in shots on goal (205) and shots per game (5.69).
Bailey went 11-12--23 in 20 league games to tie for fifth on the circuit in points.
Penn State next faces Ohio State in the Big Ten quarterfinals Thursday in Detroit.
His coach, Guy Gadowsky, was named Big Ten Coach of the Year and he's an Alaska connection -- former bench boss at UAF.
