SITKA -- The cash-strapped Sitka Community Hospital has hired a financial expert to provide services while an interim CEO is in place.
The Daily Sitka Sentinel reports that Anchorage finance expert Cynthia Brandt will be at the hospital Mondays through Thursdays during her contract, which runs through the end of April.
Interim CEO Rob Allen says Brandt will be working with hospital leadership to develop an improved financial management and reporting system. Brandt is associated with the Anchorage firm Waine Brandt LLC.
Allen is filling in while the hospital board searches for a permanent replacement for former CEO Jeff Comer, who resigned around the first of the year.
In December, the Sitka Assembly voted to extend a line of credit to the hospital from $500,000 to $1.5 million.
