Anchorage police request public tips in double homicide

Anchorage police are asking for the public's help with an unsolved double homicide last week.

The deaths of Krystal Elizabeth Hawk, 23, and Christian Haynes, 27, were Anchorage's second and third homicides of 2015.

An investigation into the couple's deaths is continuing, police said Wednesday. No arrests or charges have been made in connection with the fatal shooting, they said.

Police arrived at the 6000 block of East 41st Court shortly after 3:30 a.m. Jan. 27 and found Haynes already dead of gunshot wounds. Hawk was taken to an Anchorage hospital, where she died at 5 a.m.

At a recent press conference about the East Anchorage shooting and a rash of other shootings, Anchorage Police Department Communications Director Jennifer Castro said the deaths could be related to other violent crimes.

"We know that these victims have friends and contacts within the community," Castro said in an email. "If anyone knows anything about these individuals that may be helpful to the investigation, they should contact police."

Two days after the couple's deaths, another young man was shot and killed in the parking lot of a local business. No arrests have been made in connection to the shooting, Castro said.

Tips can be submitted anonymously by calling Anchorage Crime Stoppers at 907-561-STOP or on its website. People could be eligible for a $1,000 reward if their information leads to the arrest of the person or persons responsible.
