It's Fairbanks vs. Anchorage in girls hockey finale

The Arctic Bears Dark won two games and Dimond-West won a tiebreaker Friday to clinch berths in Saturday's finale of the girls hockey state tournament.

The teams will meet at 1 p.m. at Ben Boeke Arena.

The Dark was the only squad in the six-team field to go undefeated in two days of round-robin play at Dempsey Anderson Arena.

The Dark finished round-robin play with a 3-0 record. Dimond-West and the Arctic Bears White both went 2-1, with Dimond-West advancing to the title game based on a goals-allowed tiebreaker. Dimond-West gave up one goal in three games and the White surrendered three goals in three games.

Both Arctic Bears teams are from Fairbanks. The other four teams are from Anchorage.

Friday's games

Dark 1, Dimond-West 0

Helenka Brice ended a scoreless game with 6.5 minutes left, scoring an unassisted goal that carried the Dark to victory.

Sabrina Nichols stopped all 18 of Dimond-West's shot to post the save. Dimond-West goalie Gabi Gibson stopped 10 shots.

Servce-East 5, South-Bartlett 1

Jayla Oja delivered a hat trick, Stella Olnes supplied a goal and two assists and Jaden Trboyevich scored one goal and one assist for Service-East.

Julia Radcliffe put South-Bartlett on the scoreboard with a third-period goal.

White 4, Chugiak-Eagle River 0

Four players scored for the Arctic Bears White and two -- Emma Kaelke and Jade Meier -- each recorded a goal and an assist.

Dark 6, South-Bartlett 0

Kassi Graves tallied a hat trick and an assist to power the Dark, which also got goals from Sabrina Nichols, Helenka Brice and Mackenzie Sylvester.

White 5, Service-East 1

Jade Meier's natural hat trick and a big second period made the difference.

Meier's first goal helped the Arctic Bears White forge a 1-1 tie after one period, and she scored the first two goals of a four-goal second period to help the Fairbanks team break open the game.

Jayla Oja scored for Service-East.

Dimond-West 11, Chugiak-Eagle River 0

Kendra Robbins and Tami Suenram racked up six points apiece to ignite Dimond-West.

Robbins came through with four goals and two assists and Suenram scored one goal and five assists. Dimond-West outshot Chugiak-Eagle River 56-11, with Chugiak-Eagle River goalie Arika Mercer stopping 45 shots.
