Walker appoints four to UA Board of Regents

Gov. Bill Walker appointed four people to the University of Alaska Board of Regents Monday. The appointees replace regents whose eight-year terms expire in February.

Together, they represent turnover of more than a third of the positions on the 11-member board.

Walker called the appointees a "broad spectrum of Alaskans and Alaska."

The new appointees are:

• Andy Teuber of Kodiak, the chairman of the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium and president and CEO of the Kodiak Area Native Association.

• Sheri Buretta of Anchorage, the chairman of the board for Chugach Alaska Corp., the regional Native corporation for the coastal region around Prince William Sound and the Gulf of Alaska, and a longtime member of the Alaska Federation of Natives.

• John Davies of Fairbanks, a researcher with University of Alaska Fairbanks' Cold Climate Housing Research Center who holds a Ph.D. in geophysics. Davies is also a former state representative and Fairbanks North Star Borough Assembly member.

• Lisa Parker of Soldotna, a government relations manager and lobbyist for Apache Corp. and former planning director for the Kenai Peninsula Borough.
