Dimond upends Service, West rips Chugiak in CIC boys hoops

The Service Cougars, winners of two close calls earlier in the week, finally let a close one get away from them on Saturday.

Powered by a balanced scoring attack, Dimond surprised the Cougars 57-55 in a Cook Inlet Conference boys basketball game at Dimond.

The loss capped a dramatic week for Service, which pulled out a two-point win over Nome on Wednesday and a one-point win over Bartlett on Tuesday.

Eric Jenkins scored 13 points, Muhammad Cole added 10 points and Josh Fosi drilled three treys for nine points to lead the Lynx.

The game was tied 30-30 at the half, but Dimond took control with a 20-11 third quarter. Service outscored the Lynx 14-7 in the fourth quarter but couldn't catch them.

Service got 13 points and 13 rebounds from Pindo Drammeh and a game-high 16 points from Brad Wacker, who sank nine of 12 free throws. Eben Upton added 10 points for the Cougars.

West 81, Chugiak 39

Four players scored in double figures Saturday for West, which soared to an 81-39 Cook Inlet Conference boys basketball win over Chugiak at West.

Devante Doutrive had 15 points and six rebounds for West, which also got 15 points from Peni Tatafu and 14 each from Dazhon Wyche and Devonaire Doutrive.

West outscored Chugiak 44-19 in the second half and only allowed two points in the fourth quarter.
