Shooting under investigation after victim seeks help at Anchorage jail

The Anchorage Police Department is investigating a shooting in the Anchorage neighborhood of Mountain View that occurred late Wednesday, police reported in a press release.

At 10:24 p.m., police were notified that a man had walked into the Anchorage Correctional Complex with a gunshot wound to his arm, APD spokesperson Jennifer Castro said.

The unnamed 29-year-old told police that he was shot in his vehicle on North Park Street near Peterkin Avenue. He didn't know who had shot him.

Multiple shell casings were found at the scene of the shooting, police write. The man was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No suspects had been identified and no arrests had been made Thursday morning.
