2 reported injured after East Anchorage house party

One person was shot in the leg and another reported being pistol-whipped at an East Anchorage house party early Saturday morning.

Just before 4 a.m., police dispatchers fielded multiple calls reporting the sound of gunshots in the area of the 2400 block of Brookshire Loop near Muldoon Road, according to Anchorage Police Department communications director Jennifer Castro.

Before the gunshots were reported, police received a call reporting a loud party at a home on Brookshire Loop, with possibly several dozen people there, according to Castro.

When police responded, there were numerous people and cars leaving the scene, Castro said. Police discovered a blood trail leading into the townhouse from the outside, but they couldn't locate a gunshot victim.

Later, a man with a gunshot wound to the leg appeared at an Anchorage hospital, and the hospital contacted police, Castro said. Police then interviewed the victim and confirmed he was at the Brookshire Loop party, she said.

A second man, meanwhile, arrived at a different hospital with head injuries, saying he had been pistol-whipped at the party, Castro said.

Police had scant suspect information Saturday. Castro said police were hoping more people would come forward with details about what happened.
