Alaska State Troopers report that a Thursday evening car crash took the life of a Fairbanks woman.
On Thanksgiving evening around 8:30, the Fairbanks Police Department contacted troopers about a two-vehicle collision near the intersection of Badger Road and Holmes Road in North Pole. The police department initially reported there were serious injuries due to the wreck, troopers said.
Troopers found that Fairbanks resident Jennifer Greenwood, 57, was traveling north along Badger near Holmes when she lost control of her 1990 Subaru sedan and slid sideways into the oncoming lane.
Adam Davis, 29, of Fort Wainwright was traveling south in a 1998 Dodge van on Badger and was unable to stop. Davis struck the passenger side of Greenwood's Subaru, troopers said.
Greenwood was taken to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries. She was pronounced dead "shortly afterward," troopers said. Her family has been notified.
Davis received minor injuries.
Both Greenwood and Davis were the sole occupants of their vehicles and wearing seatbelts during the crash, troopers said.
On Wednesday, a 45-year-old Anchorage man died after a single-vehicle rollover on the Parks Highway in the Cantwell area.
Lengthy portions of the Parks before and after Denali National Park currently have fair driving conditions, according to the state's Department of Transportation and Public Facilities. Conditions are "difficult" for 100 miles alongside the park.
