A suspect still on the loose shot and injured three men outside a downtown Anchorage nightclub in the early morning hours Saturday, police said.
Several people called 911 just after 3 a.m. to report the shooting in front of the Anchor Pub on Fourth Avenue, police spokeswoman Dani Myren said. Many witnesses to the shooting were still there for police to talk to, Myren said.
"Officers observed that a large crowd had gathered in the street around the three gunshot victims," Myren said. "The reports indicate there were multiple gunshots."
"According to witness accounts, a verbal argument between two men outside the Anchor Pub following bar break culminated when one of the subjects produced a handgun and started shooting," Myren said.
The victims, whom police did not name, are all in their 20s and were thought to be in stable condition at a local hospital, Myren said. Witnesses described the shooter as a black man who ran from the scene and hopped in a dark-colored "SUV-style vehicle" carrying passengers, she said.
Detectives are looking at surveillance video from the Anchor and other nearby businesses in an attempt to identify the suspect and his getaway vehicle, Myren said.
