The National Weather Service on Friday issued a coastal flood warning for parts of Alaska's North Slope.
The warning is in effect until 10 p.m. Friday for Utqiagvik (formerly known as Barrow) and other nearby areas, the weather service said.

"Minor coastal flooding is ongoing in and around Barrow," the warning said. "The sea wall has been breached in several locations allowing surge to top the beach and cover the road."
Coastal residents should be alert, the weather service said, and move anything near the beach to higher ground.
There is also a high surf advisory in effect until 6 a.m. Saturday for areas including Prudhoe Bay, Nuiqsut, Alpine, Deadhorse and Kuparuk.
