A 66-year-old Wasilla man was killed Monday evening when the pickup he was driving collided with another truck that veered into his lane on Knik-Goose Bay Road, Alaska State Troopers say.
The collision was reported just before 7 p.m. at Mile 5 of the two-lane road that’s known for a high number of fatal crashes.
Susan Kaltenbacher, 69, of Wasilla lost control of her 2003 Ford F-250 as she drove north on the road and drifted into oncoming traffic, troopers said in an online dispatch. The F-250 collided with Arndt’s southbound 1999 Chevrolet truck.
Arndt was transported to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center, where he was declared dead just after 8:20 p.m., troopers said. Kaltenbacher suffered minor injuries.
