A structure was engulfed in flames early Saturday morning in Fairbanks, resulting in damage to a dental office.
The Fairbanks Fire Department received a call around 3:45 a.m. and responded to the report of a fire at 3487 Airport Way. Firefighters arrived on the scene to find a portion of a building that was under construction in flames.
Firefighters from the Fairbanks, Steese, University and Fort Wainwright fire departments responded to the call, and about 30 firefighters worked to put out the blaze.
Fairbanks Fire Department Assistant Chief Ernie Misewicz said they had the fire under control within about an hour, and it was out by around 5:30 a.m.
The building attached to the unfinished wood-framed structure that caught fire houses Four Corners Dental Group. Misewicz said the dental office sustained water and smoke damage, and the one-story addition being built on was heavily damaged.
One firefighter with minor injuries was treated at the scene and released.
The Fairbanks Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
