26-year-old driver killed in Anchorage car crash

Update 9 a.m. Tuesday: Anchorage police have identified the driver as Christopher Pullen, 26. No further information on the crash was immediately made available.

Original story:

A driver was killed in an early morning single-car crash near Anchorage's Valley of the Moon Park when he was ejected through the vehicle's sunroof, the Anchorage Police Department said.

Three passengers in the vehicle walked away without serious injuries.

A gray 2005 Acura was traveling westbound on 17th Avenue, in Anchorage's Valley of the Moon neighborhood, when the driver, an adult male, approached a sharp curve where the road turns into Arctic Boulevard.

"The vehicle left the roadway, struck the guardrail on the passenger's side and slid along the guardrail before coming to a stop," police spokesman MJ Thim wrote in a statement Sunday. "The driver, not wearing a seat belt, was ejected through the sunroof and died at the scene."

Three adult passengers were in the vehicle at the time of the crash, police said. One woman was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. Another man and woman were not injured.
