2 men arrested after shooting at Russian Jack home

Anchorage police have arrested two teenage suspects allegedly involved in a shooting off Boniface Parkway that left a woman severely wounded late Thursday.

Police have charged Michael Patrick Fitzgerald and Tommy Hunter Higgs, both 18, with first-degree assault and robbery. Higgs also faces a misdemeanor drug charge.

Fitzgerald and Higgs were taken to the Anchorage Correctional Complex on conditions of no bail. Charging documents against the teens have not been filed.

Police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro said in a statement that a report of the shooting at a home on the 5000 block of Alora Loop off East Fourth Avenue and Boniface came in shortly before 11 p.m. Thursday.

"Officers and medics responded," Castro wrote. "A woman with a gunshot wound was located at the residence and transported to a local hospital where she remains in critical condition."

Castro said details on the shooting, involving a single gunshot wound, were still coming in Friday morning.

"The evidence suggests to us that that wound was not self-inflicted," Castro said. "We're interviewing some folks now, gathering some evidence."

Police are continuing to investigate and request that anyone with additional information call them or submit a tip anonymously through Anchorage Crime Stoppers.
