Anchorage police called early Sunday to a report of shots fired in East Anchorage arrived to find a teenage boy dead.
Police said in a 3 a.m. dispatch they were notified of a "disturbance" near Sixth Avenue and Newell Street, off Boniface Parkway, just after 2 a.m.

Police arrived and found Xeryus Tate, 17, dead in the street.
"As of now, this does not appear to be a random shooting," police said.
Nobody was in custody and an investigation was continuing, police said.
