One person was injured Tuesday in an East Anchorage house fire, a city fire official said.
Firefighters called to the 3900 block of Defiance Street around 11:45 a.m. had controlled the blaze about a half-hour later, said Assistant Chief Alex Boyd with the Anchorage Fire Department.
One person was taken to the hospital and was in stable condition, Boyd said. It was not immediately clear if the person lived in the home, he said.
Fourteen units responded to the residence, including fire trucks, ambulances and supervisors, Boyd said.
The house was significantly damaged, he said, but it was not immediately clear how many people lived there and would be displaced.
An investigation into the cause and origin of the fire is ongoing.
