Resident rescued by firefighters after Anchorage mobile home park blaze sends 2 to hospital

A fire just after midnight Wednesday in an Anchorage mobile home park critically injured one resident, Anchorage fire officials say.

Anchorage Fire Department crews had to rescue the injured resident, who was taken to the hospital, Assistant Chief Erich Scheunemann said. Another resident was also hospitalized with less serious injuries. Both are adults.

The fire was reported just after 12:20 a.m. Wednesday at the 5500 block of Samoa Street, Scheunemann said. A caller described smoke coming from inside a mobile home. When the first engine arrived four minutes later, he said, flames were visible.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
