A 24-year-old man was killed when a car crashed on the Glenn Highway in Anchorage early Sunday, police said.
The Anchorage Police Department said in a statement that Thomas Shetters, who was sitting in the back of the vehicle, was killed in the crash, which happened around 12:20 a.m. Sunday. A male passenger and the female driver, sitting in the front seats, were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. They were not publicly identified early Sunday.
According to the statement, the black Dodge sedan was traveling inbound on the Glenn Highway when the driver lost control and the vehicle slammed into the median and the guardrail near where McCarrey Street crosses over the highway.
"No charges have been filed at this time as the cause of the crash is still under investigation," the statement said.
The inbound lanes of the highway were closed for several hours but reopened around 5:30 a.m.
