Driver dead in multi-vehicle collision south of Wasilla

A 36-year-old man died Thursday afternoon in a three-vehicle collision on Knik-Goose Bay Road south of Wasilla, authorities said.

The crash was reported just before 3 p.m. near the intersection of Donovan Drive and Knik-Goose Bay Road. An initial investigation found a Dodge Durango was northbound when it ran into the back of a Jeep Wrangler. The Durango then bounced off the back of a Subaru, according to a Friday morning dispatch from the Alaska State Troopers.

The driver of the Durango, identified as Paul Anderson, 36, of Wasilla, was declared dead at the scene, troopers said.

The two people in the Jeep were taken to Mat-Su Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, troopers said.

Troopers were still investigating the circumstances of the crash Friday morning.

Correction: An earlier version of this post incorrectly stated that the Durango hit the Wrangler, which then hit a Subaru. The Durango hit both the Wrangler and the Subaru, troopers said.
