2 dead, 1 injured and home on fire after reported shooting near Wasilla

Two people were found dead early Sunday after a report of a shooting led them to a burning home near Wasilla, according to the Alaska Bureau of Investigation.

At 3:58 a.m. Sunday, Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of a possible shooting near Wasilla, troopers said in an online dispatch.

When troopers and paramedics arrived at the home "the residence was found to be on fire," the dispatch said.

Two people were found dead at the scene. A third person found injured at the scene was taken to a hospital, treated and released.

No one was in police custody Sunday night in connection to the deaths.

The people found dead haven't been positively identified, said troopers spokesman Tim DeSpain. All three — the two dead and the one injured — are believed to be adults.

The Alaska Bureau of Investigation, the investigative branch of the Alaska State Troopers, is looking into the case.

Troopers were unwilling to release additional details about the deaths Sunday evening — including a more specific location of the home — citing the ongoing investigation.

They also would not say how extensively the fire damaged the home or whether the people died as a result of the fire, the reported shooting that drew law enforcement to the house, or from other causes.
